How to Find a Crew in NBA 2K27

PaxJax Blog — How to Find a Crew in NBA 2K27

The biggest change in NBA 2K27 for people who play with a team is that Pro-Am is gone. Crews have replaced it. Your Crew gets its own Crew HQ with courts to practise on, plays ranked Crew Games against crews in the same tier, and can play for a title on the final weekend of each Season. That’s a lot of structure, and it only pays off with five people who pass, play their position and turn up on the same nights. Here’s how to find that Crew, or build one.

What changed from Pro-Am

If you played Pro-Am in NBA 2K26, here’s what’s different:

  • Pro-Am lives inside Crew HQ now. 2K calls Crew HQ the team version of your MyCOURT. It has built-in voice chat, 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 half courts, and full 3v3 and 5v5 courts, with competitive matchmaking for 3v3 and 5v5 runs.
  • Ranked Crew Games have six tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Top Ranked. Your Crew goes on a leaderboard against 39 other crews in its tier and has seven days to climb or risk relegation.
  • Every Crew drops two tiers when a new Season starts, so nobody stays at the top without playing.
  • A divisional tournament runs on each Season’s final weekend, with a title and exclusive prizes for the crews that make it.
  • Crews level up. There are 40 Crew levels at launch, 10 more than last year, and five more are added each Season from Season 2. Rewards include outfits, emotes, Rep and VC bonuses, and Cap Breakers.
  • Private games are built in. The Squad Showdown Kiosk in Crew HQ lets you host private runs and league play, and invite players from other Crews.

Decide what kind of Crew you want

Crews aren’t only for ranked. When you search, 2K lets you filter a Crew’s focus: Ante-Up, Starting 5, The Park, The REC or The Theater. It also lets you filter by vibe: Chill, Focused or Hardcore. Pick those before you apply anywhere. A player who wants to grind the ranked tiers every night will be unhappy in a chill Park crew, and the other way round.

Then settle the practical parts:

  • Platform. Only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cross-play. PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2 players are in separate pools. If you’re on PS5 or Xbox, 2K says turning cross-play off removes you from your active Crew, so leave it on.
  • Schedule. The in-game search has Active Times: daily, weekends, weekday evenings or weekend evenings. A ranked climb that needs wins inside a seven-day window only works if five people are online on the same nights.
  • Mic and language. Both are filters in the Crews search, and both matter more in 5v5 than anywhere else in The City.

How to join a Crew

Open the Main Menu in The City and go to the Crews tab. You have three ways in:

  • Invitations. If a friend or a crew has already invited you, it’s here.
  • Quick Join a 2K Crew. 2K runs public crews you can join straight away, in-game or from the NBA 2K HQ app. They have no President and nobody gets kicked, which makes them a low-commitment way to try Crew HQ.
  • Join a Crew. Apply to a player-made crew. Friends’ crews with space are listed first, and Search Crews lets you filter by privacy, focus, active times, vibe, mic, primary language and region.

Choose carefully. When you join a Crew, a seven-day cooldown starts before you can earn some Crew rewards, such as Cap Breakers, and leaving to join another Crew restarts it. Hopping between crews costs you rewards.

How to build your own Crew

To start one, go to the Crews tab and choose Start a Crew. You set the abbreviation, bio, colours and the same focus, schedule, vibe, mic, language and region tags that other players search by. The name starts out randomly generated. You can pick a custom name once the Crew reaches level 5, and a custom logo as it levels up further.

The Crew President runs everything: settings, focus, promotions and kicks. Two things to know before you recruit:

  • Removing a member costs the Crew XP. Recruit carefully instead of adding everyone and trimming later.
  • Recruit by position, not by overall. A Crew of five point guards loses to a balanced five. You want a ball handler who runs the offence, a wing who can defend and shoot, and bigs who rebound and set screens.

Where to find players for your Crew

The in-game Crews search is good for finding a crew. It’s harder to use for finding the one player your lineup is missing, like a big who rebounds, is on your platform and plays weekday evenings. Discord servers and subreddits have the same problem. A “need a C for Crew Games, PS5, EU” post gets buried in minutes.

That’s the gap PaxJax fills. Instead of starting over every Season, you can:

  • Filter players by position, platform and region, so the people you find can join your Crew and fill a real gap.
  • Jump into NBA 2K27 game chat to find players who are online and looking right now.
  • Send an Invite to Play directly, so a Squad Showdown run or a ranked night takes one tap to set up.
  • Save a standing Crew with a Looking-for-Team profile, so the same five come back for the next climb.

Find Your NBA 2K27 Crew

Turn a good run into a standing Crew

When a run goes well, because someone moved the ball, a big boxed out every possession and nobody quit after going down 10, don’t let those players disappear. Add them, invite them to your Crew, and set a regular night. Use the Squad Showdown Kiosk to run private games against another Crew before you take on the ranked tiers.

Season 1 started on 26 August, and 2K hasn’t published its end date yet. When Season 2 starts, every Crew drops two tiers, so a Crew that’s settled by then has the best chance to climb back fast.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pro-Am in NBA 2K27?
Not as its own mode. 2K says it has taken everything from Pro-Am and built it into Crew HQ. Your Crew gets its own HQ with half courts and full 3v3 and 5v5 courts, competitive matchmaking against other crews, and ranked Crew Games across six tiers.
How do I join a Crew in NBA 2K27?
Open the Main Menu in The City and go to the Crews tab. You can accept an invitation, quick-join one of 2K's public crews, or apply to a player-made crew. Search Crews lets you filter by privacy, focus, active times, vibe, mic, primary language and region, and your friends' crews with space are listed first.
How do ranked Crew Games work in NBA 2K27?
There are six tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Top Ranked. 2K says your Crew is placed on a leaderboard against 39 other crews in your tier, and you have seven days to win your way up or risk relegation. At the start of each new Season every Crew drops two tiers, and on each Season's final weekend there's a divisional tournament for a title and exclusive prizes.
Can two Crews play each other privately in NBA 2K27?
Yes. The Squad Showdown Kiosk in your Crew HQ lets you host your own private runs and league play, and invite members from other Crews. That makes it the place for a scrim or a private league night.
Does NBA 2K27 have cross-play for Crews?
Only between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch 2 don't cross-play with those consoles. 2K also says turning cross-play off on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S removes you from your active Crew, and there's no cross-progression, so your MyPLAYER and VC stay on the platform where you earned them.
What happens if I leave my Crew?
When you join a Crew, a seven-day cooldown starts before you can earn some Crew rewards, such as Cap Breakers, and leaving to join another Crew restarts it. The Crew also loses XP when the Crew President removes a member. Both are good reasons to find the right Crew once rather than hopping between them.
When does NBA 2K27 Season 1 end?
2K hasn't published the end date. Season 1 started on 26 August 2026, and 2K's Season 1 events calendar runs into mid-October. Season 2 adds five new Crew levels on top of the 40 at launch.
