CS2 Rank Check: Premier, Competitive and Faceit Explained

PaxJax Blog — CS2 Rank Check

“CS2 rank check” is one question with three answers, and most of the confusion in Counter-Strike right now comes from people comparing numbers that were never on the same scale. Someone says they’re 15k. Someone else says Level 7. A third says Legendary Eagle on Ancient. All three are describing their skill accurately, in three unrelated systems. Here’s how to check each one, why yours might be hidden, and what the numbers do and don’t transfer to.

Three systems, not one

Premier — CS Rating. One open-ended number for your whole account, played with the pick-ban map veto. This is the flagship: Valve ties seasons and leaderboards to it, and it’s the honest answer when someone asks what rank you are. It resets every season.

Competitive — skill groups, per map. The classic 18 badges, Silver I up to Global Elite. The part that catches people out is that CS2 tracks these per map. You can genuinely be Global Elite on Mirage and Gold Nova on Ancient at the same time, and neither badge is lying. A screenshot of one map’s badge tells you very little on its own.

Faceit — levels 1 to 10. A third-party platform with its own matchmaking and its own Elo. It is not connected to Premier or Competitive, doesn’t move when they do, and doesn’t reset when Valve’s seasons do. Conversion tables between CS Rating and Faceit level are everywhere, but they’re community estimates built from sampled data — neither Valve nor Faceit publishes an official mapping, so treat any exact equivalence as a rough guide.

Why your rank is hidden

Two different mechanisms, regularly mistaken for each other:

  • Calibration. Premier won’t show a rating until you’ve won 10 matches. This applies to a new account and again after every seasonal reset — which is why half the player base appears rankless for a fortnight after a season rolls over.
  • Inactivity. Stop playing for a stretch of weeks and Premier hides your rating until you play and win again. Your underlying rating is retained and used as the starting point, so you’re recalibrating, not starting from zero. Reports of exactly how long that takes vary, and Valve doesn’t document it.

The most recent reset: Premier Season 5 began in early July 2026, wiping visible ratings and requiring 10 wins to reveal a new one. Sources disagree on the precise start date and on how much of the old rating fed into recalibration, so this is one to check against the game rather than a blog — this one included.

Checking someone else

There’s no official Valve lookup site. The community runs on third-party tools — Leetify and csstats.gg are the two worth knowing — which read match data through Steam.

That dependency creates the single most common failure. A lookup returns nothing when:

  • The player’s Steam profile is private, or
  • The profile is public but Game details is not set to Public — these are separate settings, and the second one is the one people forget, or
  • The account simply hasn’t played enough matches to have anything to show.

So an empty result usually means a privacy setting, not a wrong ID. If it’s your own profile that won’t load, those two Steam settings are the first place to look. And if you’d rather not be lookupable, that’s the lever: restricting Game details removes you from these sites without touching anything in CS2 itself.

Worth remembering when you read what does load: a rating is a measure of results, not of what someone is like to play with. Premier rewards winning against higher-rated opposition. It has no opinion on whether a player calls, holds a site, or throws their mouse.

One rule about stat checkers

Looking up someone else never requires a login. A Steam ID or profile URL is enough, and any site demanding credentials to check another player is phishing.

Signing in for your own data is normal on established sites — but the sign-in must land on Steam’s real login page at steamcommunity.com, and you should check the domain in the address bar before typing anything. Counter-Strike accounts carry real inventory value and fake login pages targeting them are a permanent fixture of this game’s ecosystem. A convincing skin-site clone has taken more accounts than any cheat ever has.

What none of it tells you

You can have a player’s CS Rating, their per-map badges, their Faceit level, their headshot percentage and their entry-frag success, and still not know the thing that decides whether your five-stack lasts a month: whether they turn up, whether they take a mid-round call without arguing, and whether they’re still playing at 11pm on a Wednesday when you are.

That’s what PaxJax is for. Rather than inferring a teammate from a rating, you can:

  • Filter CS2 players by region so the server choice isn’t a compromise every night.
  • Match on rank and mode — Premier grinders, Faceit players, or people who just want Competitive without the stakes.
  • See who’s online and looking right now, and send an Invite to Play.
  • Save a standing five with a Looking-for-Team profile, so the roster reassembles instead of dissolving into your friends list.

Find Your CS2 Team

So: know which of the three systems you’re being quoted, expect a hidden rating to mean calibration or inactivity rather than a bug, check Game details before blaming the tracker, and never type your Steam password anywhere but steamcommunity.com.

Frequently asked questions

How do I check my CS2 rank?
In game. Premier shows a numeric CS Rating on the main menu once it is calibrated; Competitive shows a skill group badge per map in the same place. For a fuller breakdown, or to look at someone else, third-party sites like Leetify and csstats.gg read your public match data. Valve does not publish an official rank-lookup website.
Why is my CS2 rank hidden?
Two reasons. Premier requires 10 wins to calibrate before it will show a rating at all, which also applies after every seasonal reset. Separately, if you stop playing for a stretch of weeks, Premier hides your rating until you play and win again — your underlying rating is retained and used as the starting point, so you are recalibrating rather than starting over.
What is the difference between Premier and Competitive in CS2?
Premier is a single open-ended number for your whole account, played with a pick-ban map veto and reset each season. Competitive is the classic 18 skill groups from Silver I to Global Elite, tracked separately for each map — you can hold a different badge on every map in the pool. Premier is the mode Valve has made the flagship and the one seasons and leaderboards are tied to.
Is Faceit level the same as a CS2 rank?
No. Faceit is a third-party platform with its own matchmaking, its own Elo and levels 1 to 10. It is not connected to Premier or Competitive and does not move when they do. Rough conversion tables between CS Rating and Faceit level circulate widely, but they are community estimates from sampled data, not anything Valve or Faceit publish.
Why can't I see another player's CS2 stats?
Almost always privacy. Third-party trackers read match data through Steam, so the player's Steam profile must be public and, separately, the Game details setting must be set to Public. If either is restricted, the lookup returns nothing regardless of which site you use. An account with too few matches played will also come back empty.
When did CS2 Premier ranks last reset?
Premier Season 5 began in early July 2026, resetting ratings and requiring 10 wins to reveal a new one. Sources disagree on the exact start date and on how much of the previous rating carried into recalibration, so treat any precise claim about the reset mechanics with caution — what is consistent is that a reset happened and that 10 wins were needed to see a rating again.
How do I get on the CS2 Premier leaderboard?
The regional leaderboards cover the top 1,000 players in each region and require Prime status, so free-to-play accounts cannot appear. They update continuously, which means you can drop off without losing a single match if enough people climb past you.
Is it safe to use a CS2 stat checker?
Looking up another player never requires you to log in — a Steam ID or profile URL is enough, and any site demanding credentials to check someone else is phishing. Signing in for your own data is legitimate on established sites, but the sign-in must happen on Steam's real login page at steamcommunity.com. Check the domain before typing anything. Counter-Strike accounts carry inventory value and are targeted constantly.
