Best BGMI Guns in 2026: Tier List

PaxJax Blog — Best BGMI Guns in 2026

If you searched for a BGMI gun tier list and landed on one written for PUBG on PC, close it. The two games share a name and a lot of guns, but they have different loot pools and separate balance patches, and the gap has widened this year. Here’s a tier list built on BGMI as it exists after the 4.5 update, plus the two changes that decide how fights actually play out now.

First: the PC list is wrong for you

The single cleanest proof that you can’t borrow a PC tier list: PUBG on PC permanently removed the DP-28 from world spawn in Update 42.1 in June 2026. In BGMI, the DP-28 is still an A-tier pick. The PC list also won’t mention the JS9, because that gun doesn’t exist there.

That’s not a small discrepancy. It means any guide that doesn’t say “BGMI” or “PUBG Mobile” somewhere near the top is ranking a different loot pool than the one you’re playing.

Second: snipers stopped losing damage at range

The change that shapes everything else — damage drop-off was removed for snipers and DMRs. Their bullets now hit as hard at 400m as at 40m.

Two consequences worth building around:

  • The AWM is the most oppressive gun in BGMI right now. No drop-off plus bonus armour damage means a hit is a hit, at any distance. Airdrop-only, so you won’t have it most matches — but when your squad cracks a crate, the argument about who takes it should be short.
  • Long-range play is simply stronger than it was. Squads that hold angles and open fights from outside contact range are rewarded more than squads that rush. If your instinct is to push everything, the map is currently working against you.

Alongside that, shotguns were nerfed, which hands close-quarters fights to SMGs — and makes the UMP45 and the JS9 more valuable than their raw stats suggest.

S tier

M416. The most reliable weapon in BGMI and the correct default. Good at every range, available on every map, and forgiving enough that you can win gunfights without perfect recoil control. It doesn’t out-damage the 7.62 rifles — it out-hits them, which for most players is worth more.

AWM. See above. Airdrop-only, and the strongest gun in the game.

Groza. The other reason to contest airdrops. Close-to-mid range it beats anything you’ll find on the ground.

AKM. Picked up a base damage increase in the 4.2 update (13 January 2026) along with the M762, ACE32, Honey Badger and Mk47. Heavy recoil, heavy reward — and that +2 pushed the whole 7.62 class up a step.

UMP45. Holds up the entire close-range meta. Hits hard for an SMG, manageable recoil, and with shotguns nerfed it’s your best answer to house fights.

A tier

Beryl M762. Highest DPS you’ll find on the ground, and the same 4.2 damage buff. The recoil is the price, and it’s a real one — build it grip-first and put time into it in training before you trust it in ranked.

JS9. The newest SMG, and a genuinely good addition: faster than the UMP45, easier to control than the Vector. Sits neatly between them.

ACE32. Got firing-stability work in 4.5 — recoil kickback smoothed out — which makes it a more viable alternative to the AKM for mid-range fights than it used to be.

Kar98k. The world-spawn bolt-action. Doesn’t one-shot a Level 3 helmet, but it’s how most squads get a long-range option without an airdrop, and the drop-off removal helped it too.

Mini 14. The DMR that punishes teams caught rotating in the open.

DP-28. Still here, still good, still absent from every PC tier list you’ll find.

Loadouts

  • All-purpose and the safe default: M416 + UMP45. If you only learn one loadout, learn this one. It covers close and mid range with nothing you’re bad at, and both guns are common enough that you can actually build it instead of hoping for a drop.
  • Long-range squad: M416 + Kar98k, or AWM if you crack a crate. Built for the current drop-off meta.
  • Aggressive: Beryl M762 + JS9. Takes fights and ends them fast, and asks for recoil control in return.
  • Hot drops: UMP45 or JS9 first, worry about a rifle second. SMGs win the first ninety seconds.

Why you’re actually losing ranked

Here’s what no gun list will tell you: at the level most players are at, weapon choice isn’t what’s ending your matches. Rotations are. Whether your squad pushes at the same time is. Whether anyone moves before the zone forces it.

A coordinated four running Mini 14s will erase a squad holding the best loadout in the lobby, because they moved together and you didn’t. And the drop-off change has made this worse, not better — long-range meta punishes bad rotations harder than a close-range meta does.

That’s a practice problem, not a loot problem, and public matchmaking is bad at teaching it because half your squad is fill players who don’t rotate like a real team. What fixes it is playing with the same four people often enough that the calls get short.

That’s what PaxJax is for:

  • Find BGMI and PUBG Mobile players by rank and region, so you’re building a four at your level
  • Match on playstyle — long-range and zone-play, or hot-drop aggression
  • See who’s online and looking right now, and send an Invite to Play
  • Save a standing squad with a Looking-for-Team profile, so the same four come back tomorrow

Keep it in perspective

Learn one AR properly instead of swapping between five. Recoil control is muscle memory, and the player with 200 hours on an M416 beats the player who picked up a “better” gun this week. Take the M416, pair it with a UMP45, hold a bolt-action if the map is open — and spend your energy on rotating as a squad instead of on loot.

Want squadmates who rotate like they mean it? Find BGMI players & squads on PaxJax → — BGMI runs on its own servers, so a PUBG Mobile squad doesn’t carry across. If you play the global client instead, PUBG Mobile is here.

Frequently asked questions

What are the best guns in BGMI in 2026?
The S-tier is the M416, Groza, AKM, AWM and UMP45. The M416 is the most reliable pick — good at every range, on every map, and forgiving enough that average recoil control still wins fights. The AWM is the strongest weapon in the game outright, but it is airdrop-only.
What is the best loadout in BGMI right now?
M416 + UMP45 is the safest ranked loadout and has been for some time. It covers close and mid range with nothing you are bad at, and both guns are common enough that you can reliably build the loadout instead of hoping for a specific drop.
Is the JS9 good in BGMI?
Yes. It was added recently and sits between the UMP45 and the Vector — faster than the UMP but easier to control than the Vector. It is solidly A-tier, and with shotguns nerfed it is a genuine option for house and compound fights.
Do snipers still lose damage at long range in BGMI?
No. Damage drop-off was removed for snipers and DMRs, so their bullets hit as hard at long range as up close. That single change is why the current meta rewards long-range play so heavily, and why the AWM — which also carries bonus armour damage — is so dominant.
Is the BGMI weapon meta the same as PUBG PC?
No, and assuming it is will cost you fights. The two games have different loot pools and separate balance patches. The clearest example: PUBG PC permanently removed the DP-28 from world spawn in Update 42.1 in June 2026, while in BGMI the DP-28 is still an A-tier pick. The JS9 does not exist on PC at all. Use a mobile-specific list.
Is BGMI the same as PUBG Mobile?
BGMI is Krafton's India-specific version of PUBG Mobile — same core game and broadly the same weapon balance, but a separate client, separate servers and its own release schedule. Tier lists written for PUBG Mobile generally transfer; tier lists written for PUBG on PC do not.
